Saving Seeds

The first Seedy Sunday held in Eastbourne on the south coast of England; inspired by the succes of similar pioneering seed swaps in Brighton, and then Lewes.

This short film continues our exploration of community growing and seed saving in an urban environment.

Seedy Sunday

A short film, made during Seedy Sunday on 6th. February 2011 in Brighton, UK. Marking 10 years of seed swapping, participants reflect on the issues involved: control of seed production by multi-national companies; role of seed saving in maintaining local biodiversity; the principles behind a community seed swap. The film glimpses a pioneering community event at a point of transition.

Seedy Sunday¬†marks the beginning of a¬†series of short films exploring people’s relationship to growing on communal land situated on the urban fringes of the city.
